Threats to Wildlife
Habitat
In the time it takes to read this message, one acre
of wildlife habitat will be swallowed up by subdivision and development.
Every 24 hours, this cumulative loss adds up to 2,500 acres - almost
4 square miles per day. More than 81,760 square miles of rural land
has been lost to development in North America since 1950.
A top priority for the Wild Elk Federation hasn't
changed since the organization was founded; offsetting habitat loss,
which is seen as the principal limiting factor for wildlife.
Despite all the beauty and benefit wildlife habitat
has to offer, it continues to be lost at an alarming rate. The urgency
for conservation continues and the need for support even greater.
