2009 Fundraiser For Elk a Huge Success

The Leduc & Greater Edmonton area Chapter of the Wild Elk Federation held its 4th Annual Fundraising Dinner & Auctions on April 18, 2009 at the Black Gold Curling Rink in Leduc. With over 350 supporters in attendance almost $90,000.00 was raised for elk and other wildlife.

One of the highlights of the evening was the introduction ofWEF's youngest Life Member,8 year old Carter Willdig who was immediately outdone by his 5 year old brother Justin when his mother purchased a WEF Life Membership for him that evening at the fundraiser. Two fine youngsters who will carry the torch for elk and other wildlife in the future.
An Alberta fly-in fishing tripdonated by Keane Creek Outfitters sold on the live auction for$3,300.00 and the "Special Auction"for the one of a kind 2009 WEF rifle again raised over $6,000.00.

The winning numbers for the Rifle draws are as follows:
The winning # for the white ticket is 0658 and the winner is from from Mayerthorpe.
The winning # for the yellow ticket is 0077 and that winner is from Edmonton

Bob Ronnie Catering and his crew from Ponoka again outdid themselves providing a tremendous meal with all the trimmings which was again supplemented with the whole BBQ Bison on a spit. Yum.

Special thanks to MC Shane Michaels from FM 104.9 and auctioneer Shawn Gist for their time and effort at the evening's festivities. A great time was had by all.
